Lance Lynn dominates Royals for MLB's 1st complete game of 2021
Chicago White Sox right-hander Lance Lynn had it working during his club's home opener Thursday against the Kansas City Royals.
Lynn threw the first complete-game shutout in the majors for the 2021 season. He went the distance allowing only five hits while striking out 11 and walking none.

He's the first pitcher in AL history to record 10 or more strikeouts without walking a single batter while tossing a shutout in his team's home opener, according to Stats by STATS.
The 33-year-old showcased pinpoint control by throwing 79 of his 111 pitches for strikes with 17 swinging strikes for good measure.
This is the second complete-game shutout of Lynn's career, with the last one coming as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals against the New York Yankees in 2014.
It's been a while since the White Sox saw this kind of a performance during the home opener.
Lynn is the first Sox to pitch a complete game at a home opener since Britt Burns in 1985 and first since Wilbur Wood in 1976 to throw a shutout in the home opener.

Lynn has made a great first impression with the White Sox after being acquired from the Texas Rangers in an offseason trade. He's yet to allow an earned run over 13 2/3 innings in 2021.
