Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker admitted he misspoke with regard to the status of injured right-hander Mike Soroka.

During an appearance on MLB Network's "High Heat" earlier Friday, Snitker announced that Soroka, who is rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon, would miss the rest of this season. Hours later, he walked those words back, saying that there's a chance the All-Star righty will return in 2021.

Snitker said he saw Soroka moving around on a motorized scooter and assumed the worst for his ace.

"I messed up earlier," the skipper said, according to Kelly Price of Fox 5 Atlanta. "I got that wrong."

The Braves will re-evaluate Soroka in two weeks before making a decision on his status for the rest of the season, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic.

Soroka, who hasn't pitched since tearing his right Achilles in August 2020, suffered a setback in mid-May. Snitker said at the time that Soroka would undergo an exploratory procedure on his surgically repaired tendon.

The 23-year-old was a 2019 All-Star and finished sixth in NL Cy Young voting that season. He owns a career 2.86 ERA over 214 innings (37 starts) for the Braves since 2018.
