New York Mets general manager Zack Scott faces driving while intoxicated charges after being arrested Tuesday in White Plains, New York, police announced Wednesday, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma, Craig McCarthy, and Jorge Fitz-Gibbon.

Police said Scott failed a field sobriety test after refusing to give a blood sample or complete a Breathalyzer test when he was caught sleeping in his car early Tuesday morning.

The 44-year-old executive appeared in court Thursday and pleaded not guilty, according to Ryan Gerbosi of Newsday.

Scott was at the Connecticut home of Mets owner Steve Cohen on the night of the arrest, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. Scott and several players were reportedly there for a fundraiser, though it apparently ended seven hours earlier, Passan reports.

"We were surprised and deeply disappointed to learn this morning about an alleged DUI involving Zack Scott," the Mets said in a statement. "Zack will not be traveling with the team for our upcoming road trip while we learn more and determine next steps."

This is Scott's first season as Mets GM after replacing Jared Porter, who was fired in January for sending unsolicited explicit texts and images to a female reporter in 2016 when he was an employee of the Chicago Cubs.
