With the Diamondbacks boasting an MLB-worst 20-48 record entering Wednesday, Arizona players are already garnering a lot of trade interest.

"The phone has been ringing off the hook ... given where we're standing and where other teams are at," general manager Mike Hazen said Wednesday on Arizona Sports' "Doug and Wolf." "So, there's a volume that has to be dealt with."

It remains to be seen which big-league pieces will be shopped, but infielder Eduardo Escobar is among the club's impending free agents. Outfielder David Peralta will be a free agent after the 2022 campaign. All-Star Ketel Marte could also be of interest, but he's under contract through next season with a pair of team options for 2023 and 2024.

Hazen announced last week he'll be away from the team on a physical leave of absence. Assistant GM Amiel Sawdaye's role will expand in Hazen's place, while the team will bring in former Kansas City Royals GM Allard Baird to help with baseball operations.

"(Baird) has a wealth of experience, former GM," Hazen said. "Somebody to handle (things), especially as we move into the draft and deadline time. His counsel, his evaluation, his perspective, his ability to help."
