Report: Reds to play Cubs in 2022 Field of Dreams game
The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs will travel to Iowa next year for the 2022 edition of Major League Baseball's Field of Dreams game, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The contest is expected to take place Aug. 11, which is currently an off day for both teams before they kick off a three-game series at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Nightengale notes.
Cubs manager David Ross mentioned his club was slated to take part in next year's game before quickly backtracking last week.
MLB has not officially announced the game.
The Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees contested the inaugural edition of the game Thursday night. Chicago won in epic, walk-off fashion after Tim Anderson slugged a clutch two-run home run.
That game drew 5.9 million viewers, the most for any regular-season broadcast since 2005.
