Twins' Correa to undergo CT scan after potentially fracturing finger
The Minnesota Twins could be without star shortstop Carlos Correa for an undetermined period of time.
Correa was removed from Minnesota's game on Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles with what the team initially called a right middle finger contusion after he was struck by a pair of pitches in consecutive at-bats.
A preliminary X-ray following the game revealed there could potentially be a non-displaced fracture in Correa's right middle finger, according to MLB.com's Do-Hyoung Park.
"He was down there with the trainers running some tests, trying to squeeze his hand, and he was in a lot of pain," Twins bench coach Jayce Tingler said, according to MLB.com's Joe Trezza. "Tomorrow, we should have more information."
Correa will undergo a CT scan on Friday as the team aims to confirm a diagnosis.
The 27-year-old's hitting .255/.320/.692 with a pair of home runs and 11 RBIs across 24 games in his first season with the Twins after inking a three-year, $105.3-million contract. Correa had found his stride before the injury, posting an .854 OPS over the last 15 games.
