The New York Yankees' massive trade deadline haul was almost even bigger.

New York had serious talks with the Miami Marlins about acquiring right-hander Pablo Lopez, sources told the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson and Craig Mish.

The two sides reportedly mentioned Gleyber Torres' name in the discussions, but it's uncertain if New York was willing to part with the two-time All-Star infielder.

Top prospect Anthony Volpe was apparently also not included in a potential package for Lopez, according to Jackson and Mish.

Lopez owns a 3.41 ERA with 1.12 WHIP and 119 strikeouts over 118 2/3 innings (21 starts) for the Marlins this season. The 26-year-old is arbitration-eligible through the 2024 campaign.

New York did land top starter Frankie Montas among a flurry of moves.
