The New York Yankees are losing one of their big trade-deadline acquisitions right as another returns.

New York placed right-hander Frankie Montas on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Tuesday. Montas' IL stint is retroactive to Sept. 17. The team reinstated outfielder Harrison Bader from the 60-day IL in a corresponding roster move.

This is the second time Montas has dealt with shoulder issues this season; he missed almost three weeks in July while still with the Oakland Athletics. The 29-year-old's injury is similar to what he dealt with in Oakland, he told ESPN's Marly Rivera.

While there's no timetable for a return yet, Montas received a cortisone injection and will be shut down from throwing for about 10 days, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. Montas said he hopes to return for one more regular-season start, per Rivera.

The right-hander has struggled since joining the Yankees in a deadline deal that also brought Lou Trivino to the Bronx. In eight starts for New York, Montas owns a 6.35 ERA, 4.93 FIP, and 1.54 WHIP while averaging just over seven strikeouts per nine innings.

Bader, meanwhile, will make his long-awaited Yankees debut Tuesday when he hits seventh and plays center field against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Bronxville native was already on the injured list rehabbing from plantar fasciitis when his hometown team acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals for left-hander Jordan Montgomery.

Before his injury, Bader hit .256/.303/.370 with five homers, 21 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases in 72 games with the Cardinals this year. He's best known for his defense, having won a Gold Glove in center field last year.
