The Atlanta Braves signed right-hander Charlie Morton to a one-year, $20-million contract for next season with a $20-million club option for 2024 that doesn't include a buyout, the club announced Friday.

Morton, who turns 39 in November, signed a one-year, $20-million pact in September 2021 with a $20-million club option. However, the Braves decided to ink him to the same deal again instead of picking up his 2023 option, notes David O'Brien of The Athletic.

The two-time All-Star owns a 4.29 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 200 strikeouts over 167 2/3 innings (30 starts) during the 2022 campaign.

The 15-year veteran has also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, and Tampa Bay Rays.
