Report: Giants, Conforto agree to 2-year, $36M deal
The San Francisco Giants and outfielder Michael Conforto agreed on a two-year, $36-million contract with an opt-out after 2023, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.
Conforto missed the entire 2022 season after undergoing shoulder surgery in April. The 29-year-old spent the first seven campaigns of his career with the New York Mets.
Conforto is the Giants' first addition after the club abandoned its pursuit of Carlos Correa after apparently raising concerns about his right leg during a physical. Correa is reportedly set to join the New York Mets on a 12-year, $315-million contract.
San Francisco plans to use an outfield consisting of Mike Yastrzemski in center with Conforto and Mitch Haniger occupying corner outfield spots, according to NBC Sports' Alex Pavlovic.
Conforto is a one-time All-Star and owns a career .824 OPS with 132 home runs and 396 RBIs across 757 games.
