Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen believes pitchers will need to find ways to adjust to the pitch clock to protect themselves from potential injuries.

"Your body feels different now ... You're not pacing yourself out there," Jansen told Audacy's "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast with Rob Bradford. Hey, if this is better for the game then we've got to figure out how to train ourselves to make sure we recover well because pitchers are getting hurt out there right now."

MLB implemented a pitch clock for the 2023 season to improve pace of play. Pitchers are given 15 seconds between pitches with the bases empty and 20 seconds with runners on base.

Jansen admits the changes have taken some getting used to at this stage of his career.

"I'm not going to lie to you. It feels totally different," Jansen said. "It's just that pitch clock, man. It's something else. But we have to adjust to it. I'm not the type that's going to complain about it. This game is a game of adjustment and that's what they want us to do ... It's definitely challenging, but I'm out there having fun."

The Red Sox signed Jansen to a two-year, $32-million contract in the offseason. The 35-year-old recently record his 400th career save and owns a 3.95 ERA with 17 strikeouts and 10 saves across 15 appearances this season.
