The Chicago White Sox activated closer Liam Hendriks from the injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, the club announced.

The White Sox released a video Sunday welcoming Hendriks back. It features a number of his teammates chiming in with their excitement for his return to action.

Hendriks has missed the entire 2023 season so far. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in January but announced he was cancer-free in late April and started ramping up to make his return.

The 34-year-old made six appearances for Triple-A Charlotte on a rehab assignment, posting a 10.80 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with five strikeouts across five innings.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn plans to give Hendriks time to adjust to being back with the club and won't give him ninth-inning duties right away, according to The Athletic's James Fegan.

The hurler has become one of baseball's most reliable closers over the past few seasons. Hendriks has been selected to three All-Star Games over the last four years and has 114 saves since 2019.
