Report: Angels calling up top prospect Moore
The Los Angeles Angels are calling up top prospect and 2024 first-round pick Christian Moore, a source told Baseball America's Taylor Blake Ward.
The Angels selected Moore with the eighth overall pick in last year's draft. He's the No. 56 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
Moore has progressed quickly through the minors, making just 20 appearances at Triple-A. The 22-year-old raked for the Salt Lake Bees, slashing .350/.424/.575 with four home runs, four doubles, one triple, and 18 RBIs in 80 at-bats this season.
Moore has patrolled second base and could provide a boost for the Angels at the position. Angels second basemen rank 28th in the major leagues in wRC+ (52), 28th in batting average (.199), and 29th in OPS (.547) this season.
The Angels have been aggressive calling up prospects over the past few seasons with Zach Neto, Nolan Schanuel, Reid Detmers, and Ben Joyce making their MLB debuts not long after they were drafted.
