The Toronto Blue Jays are among several teams interested in signing free-agent closer Robert Suarez, reports Fansided's Robert Murray.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are also potential suitors for Suarez, Murray notes.

Suarez, 34, is one of the top relievers available on the open market this winter. He's been an All-Star the past two years with the San Diego Padres, and led the National League with 40 saves in 2025.

High-leverage relief is a need for the Blue Jays after an inconsistent first season in Toronto for closer Jeff Hoffman. GM Ross Atkins said last month that moving Hoffman out of the closer's role in 2026 could be an option.

Toronto has been active early in the offseason after losing Game 7 of the World Series. The Blue Jays signed starter Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210-million deal, and have reportedly shown interest in relievers Pete Fairbanks and Edwin Diaz.

The Blue Jays are also reportedly in the mix for free-agent outfielder Kyle Tucker, and may re-sign homegrown star Bo Bichette.
