Aldo no longer interested in discussing McGregor: 'It's in the past'

When it comes to Conor McGregor, Jose Aldo has drawn a line in the sand.

During Thursday's conference call for UFC 212, the Brazilian featherweight said it's time he was spared the questions regarding a rematch with McGregor, as he's resigned to the ever-slimming odds of avenging the 13-second KO he suffered at the Irishman's hands in December 2015.

"The UFC tried to make this fight happen again. It didn’t happen. The guy does not want to fight with me again so may it be the last time that people ask," Aldo said, per Damon Martin of FOX Sports. "He doesn’t want to have anything to do with me anymore and that’s fine.

"People don’t need to keep asking me about Conor McGregor anymore. It’s happened. It’s in the past."

Aldo saw a relentless campaign for a second dance with McGregor go for naught last year - much to his chagrin - when "The Notorious" moved up to 155 pounds to dethrone Eddie Alvarez, but he's since learned to take comfort in what the highly promoted bout did for his career.

"I fought Conor, it’s something that I try to take the best out of. I’m not going to sit around and cry, but in the end we did lose a fight so if I were to go back and change anything, I would change that.

"Really everything else that went around it, the vision was promoted, the UFC, myself I was promoted so I try to see the good in it, the silver lining."

The reigning featherweight champion meets interim titleholder Max Holloway in a unification bout at UFC 212 on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro.
