Holloway to defend featherweight title against Edgar at UFC 218

Max Holloway will put his featherweight title on the line against former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar at UFC 218 on Dec. 8 in Detroit.

The fight, which will headline the card at Little Caesars Arena, was first reported by ESPN's Brett Okamoto and later confirmed by UFC officials.

It will be the first official title defense for Holloway, who won the interim featherweight title with a victory over Anthony Pettis last December before unifying the belt with a TKO of Jose Aldo on June 3.

Holloway enters the bout on an 11-fight winning streak, while Edgar has won in his last two trips to the Octagon following a unanimous decision loss to Aldo in July of last year.
