Belfort announces retirement bout with Hall on Jan. 14

Vitor Belfort will take to the Octagon for his last UFC contest against Uriah Hall on Jan. 14 at UFC Fight Night 124, the veteran middleweight announced via Instagram on Thursday.

The 40-year-old had been pushing the UFC to open a legends division and previously hinted that retirement could be forthcoming if the promotion didn't move in that direction.

Belfort (26-13) is coming off a win over Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision at UFC 212 in June, but had either lost or saw the result turned to a no-contest in his previous three bouts.

Hall (13-8) broke his own three-fight losing streak in September at UFC Fight Night 116, defeating Krzysztof Jotko by second-round knockout.

A venue for UFC Fight Night 124 has yet to be announced.
