Jones' hearing with CSAC over failed UFC 214 drug test pushed to February

Jon Jones will be in limbo for the next little while.

The former light heavyweight champion has been granted a continuance for his hearing with the California State Athletic Commission over his positive steroid test in relation to a rematch with Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 in Anaheim, commission executive director Andy Foster told MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi on Tuesday.

Jones was scheduled to plead his case Dec. 12 in Sacramento, Calif., but will now do so on a to-be-determined date in February. He's also facing sanctions from the USADA.

The oft-troubled 30-year-old tested positive for anabolic steroid Turinabol in a sample collected a day prior to his long awaited rematch with Cormier. He was later stripped of the title he took from Cormier by third-round stoppage and saw the victory overturned to a no-contest once his B sample came back positive.

Jones' team was quick to blame the failed test on a tainted supplement, while the fighter himself has denied knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs. Several blood and urine tests taken just a few weeks prior to the July bout came back negative.

The former champ returned to face Cormier for the second time shortly after his one-year USADA-sanctioned ban for estrogen blockers had expired. He'd blamed the doping violation on a tainted sexual enhancement pill.

Cormier has since been reinstated as light heavyweight champion.
