Isaac "The Shermanator" Marquez has long dreamed of becoming an MMA fighter. Thanks to Diego Sanchez, it finally happened Friday.

Marquez, who was born with Down syndrome, began training with Sanchez after meeting him during a visit to the Jackson Wink Academy in Albuquerque, N.M.

"Most down syndrome adults don't live past 45. Isaac is 32, and I just wanted to see this young man be healthy," Sanchez told KRQE's Van Tate. "Exercise and martial arts are one of the most healthy things you can do."

With permission from Dana White, Sanchez set up an exhibition bout between himself and Marquez on Jackson Wink Fight Night 2 at Albuquerque's Isleta Casino and Resort. Marquez won by submission.
