Watch: Craig stuns Ankalaev with buzzer-beating comeback tapout

For 14 minutes and 59 seconds, Paul Craig appeared destined to fight out his UFC contract on a three-fight skid.

After being soundly beaten on the feet and the mat by Magomed Ankalaev for well over two rounds at Saturday's UFC Fight Night 127 in London, Craig dug deep to secure a triangle choke and score a comeback miracle submission of the previously undefeated newcomer with just one second remaining in their light heavyweight tilt.

The tapout set a UFC record for the latest finish in a three-round bout.

Ankalaev seized the reins and began outstriking Craig in short order, clubbing the Scot with a body kick in the first round and cracking him with combinations off the break from their clinch exchanges on more than one occasion. Craig repeatedly worked to bring the fight to the mat and angle for submissions, only for Ankalaev to reverse and treat him to some nasty ground-and-pound every time.

The Dagestani was doing just that late in Round 3, and just when he appeared to have earned a one-sided decision, Craig coiled his legs around Ankalaev's dome and arm with the mind-boggling choke that beat the final horn and improved his UFC record to an even 2-2.

The stoppage marked Ankalaev's first defeat in 10 professional walks to the cage.
