Report: Jedrzejczyk, Waterson agree to Oct. 12 bout
The UFC is finalizing a strawweight bout between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson for UFC Fight Night on Oct. 12, multiple sources told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
Agreements have not yet been signed, but both fighters have reportedly verbally agreed to the matchup.
Jedrzejczyk (15-3) is a former women's strawweight champion but fought for the flyweight title last December, losing to Valentina Shevchenko via unanimous decision.
Waterson (17-6) is riding a three-fight winning streak. She picked up a decision victory over Karolina Kowalkiewicz in March.
Despite Jedrzejczyk losing three of her last four bouts, the winner of the Oct. 12 matchup could receive a shot at the strawweight title. Current champion Jessica Andrade took the belt from Rose Namajunas in May and is scheduled to defend that title against Weili Zhang on Aug. 31.
The UFC has yet to announce a venue for the October Fight Night.
