UFC on ESPN 5: Preview, pro picks, and interviews

UFC on ESPN 5: Covington vs. Lawler takes place Saturday at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., where ex-interim welterweight champion Colby Covington headlines the card against former training partner Robbie Lawler.

Covington (14-1) steps into the Octagon for the first time since he captured the interim title at UFC 225 in June 2018, defeating Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision. The 31-year-old was stripped of his title following a dispute with the UFC and carries a six-fight win streak into Saturday's main event.

Lawler (28-13) is coming off a controversial first-round submission loss to Ben Askren at UFC 235 in which many felt referee Herb Deen stopped the fight too soon. "Ruthless" previously trained with Covington at American Top Team before switching to rival Florida gym Hard Knocks 365 in 2016. In his 41-fight career, the 37-year-old has never lost three straight.

The co-main event features a pair of lightweight veterans as hometown fighter Jim Miller squares off against Clay Guida.

Miller (30-13) is hoping to record back-to-back wins for the first time since November 2016 and has won two of his last three fights. The New Jersey native hasn't gone the distance since October 2017.

Guida (35-18) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over BJ Penn at UFC 237. The 37-year-old has tasted victory in three of his last four fights.
