Saturday's highly anticipated BMF title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz ended after the third round due to doctor's stoppage and the physician has been receiving threats ever since.

"I'm a very good neurologist and a very good doctor, and calling me f------ scum online and calling my office staff and yelling at them, threatening me, I fear for my health and safety," Dr. Nitin K. Sethi said to Steven Marrocco of MMAFighting.com.

"Somebody's going to get hurt, and it's probably going to be me this time."

Sethi advised referee Dan Miragliotta to stop the fight after the third round due to a large cut over Diaz's right eye and a smaller one under it.

As a result, Masvidal - who was believed to be winning the bout handily at that point - was awarded a TKO victory and the UFC's BMF belt. Chants of "bullshit" rained down from the Madison Square Garden crowd after the fight was stopped.

"I made an objective call based on my assessment of the fighter. Not just the cut, but the overall assessment of the fighter (and) how the fight was going," Sethi said. "Once I felt I could not guarantee the health and safety going forward, I had to make a tough call."
