A fight against Jorge Masvidal is not Conor McGregor's top priority, but the Irishman does hope it happens in the future, according to UFC president Dana White.

"Conor told me that he definitely wants a fight with Masvidal, so we'll see what happens," White told the "Chad Dukes vs. The World" show Thursday.

McGregor's return to the UFC - a bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on Jan. 18 - was confirmed last week.

Before he fights Masvidal, though, McGregor wants a rematch against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov "as quick as possible" if he beats Cerrone, White said. McGregor hasn't fought since an October 2018 loss to the Russian.

Nurmagomedov is scheduled to defend his belt against Tony Ferguson in April.

McGregor in October laid out his plans for 2020, which included fighting the winner of Masvidal versus Nate Diaz and the winner of Nurmagomedov versus Ferguson. At the time, McGregor said he wanted the Masvidal-Diaz winner before the Nurmagomedov-Ferguson winner, but that has seemingly now changed.

Masvidal beat Diaz, who holds a 2016 win over McGregor, for the BMF title at UFC 244 last month. "Gamebred" has since said he'd be interested in a bout against "The Notorious," but wasn't sure McGregor would want it.
