Denny Hamlin took home the Daytona 500 crown for the third time on Monday, outlasting the field to win NASCAR's most prestigious race.

Hamlin's win followed multiple crashes late in the race that took out some of the event's top drivers.

Ryan Newman, who was in the lead spot heading to the finish, was involved in a dangerous crash on the final lap and was sent to the hospital.

It was later revealed that Newman was in serious condition, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Hamlin also won Daytona in 2016 and 2019, and he's one of just four drivers in NASCAR history to win the race in back-to-back years.
