One of Michael Jordan's friends is auctioning off his incredible memorabilia collection for a good cause.

Bill Schmidt, the former vice president of marketing for Gatorade and the man behind the "Be Like Mike" campaign of the 1990s, became close with Jordan during his tenure with the company and amassed a hoard of the Hall of Famer's game-worn jerseys, shoes, hats, and more.

Now retired, Schmidt has decided to auction off the collection through Steiner Sports and plans to donate the money to charity.

Among the items in the lot are game-worn baseball cleats from Jordan's time with the Birmingham Barons, an autographed Chicago Bulls back-to-back championship banner, and a framed ticket to the "Space Jam" after party.

"I turn 70 at the end of the year and I'm in good health, knock on wood. If something happens to me, I don't know what they are going to do with this stuff," Schmidt told Sole Collector's Gerald Flores. "Somebody else can enjoy it. It would afford me the opportunity to take care of some other people and other causes as opposed to donating the shoes or whatever. They'll probably benefit more from the financial side of things."
