New Knicks GM says he still hasn't met team owner

James Dolan wasn't kidding when he said he wasn't going to be involved with his club.

The New York Knicks owner has yet to meet new general manager Scott Perry, whom the team formally introduced a week ago.

"I have not met with him yet, but I'm looking forward to that," Perry said of Dolan, as quoted by ESPN's Ian Begley.

You'd think an owner would want to have a say in such an important hire, but the businessman indicated that president Steve Mills and adviser Tim Leiweke would oversee the search for a new executive following Phil Jackson's departure.

It's not the first time Dolan has taken a back seat regarding team decisions. Last month, he played a gig with his band while Knicks staffers went through the draft process and took trade calls regarding Kristaps Porzingis.

The Knicks are reportedly in the middle of trying to move All-Star Carmelo Anthony after he informed them he doesn't want to return to the Big Apple. The organization is also believed to be interested in trading for Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving.

It's seems like a safe bet that Dolan will let Mills and Perry handle all of that.
