LeBron spurns Three-Point Contest, would rather spend night with family

Don't expect to see LeBron James sinking shots en masse from downtown at All-Star weekend.

The Cleveland Cavaliers forward is converting 42.5 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc this season, the most efficient clip of his 15-year career. While that productivity might convince other players to try their luck at the Three-Point Contest, James all but confirmed he won't be taking part in the Saturday night competition.

"Not when I can spend a Saturday night at home with my family," he told The Athletic.

James' decision to turn down the event stems from the location of this year's festivities at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The superstar owns a home in the city, and aside from appearing in the All-Star Game itself Sunday - if he's voted in - James plans to relax during the extracurricular-filled weekend.

Though he won't attend the sharpshooters' showdown, James has shown increased confidence in his 3-point shooting. His 4.8 attempts per game this season are tied for the third-highest mark of his career, behind only his 2014-15 and 2009-10 seasons where he shot 4.9 and 5.1 3-pointers per game, respectively.
