Cody Zeller is expected to be out until February.

The Charlotte Hornets center will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee and will be sidelined for six weeks, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Zeller, 25, suffered the injury during Wednesday's loss to the Golden State Warriors, and is officially listed as out indefinitely.

The fifth-year pro has been coming off the bench this season behind Dwight Howard, and is putting up 7.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in just under 20 minutes over 19 games this season. Zeller missed 20 contests last year due to various ailments, with Charlotte going 3-17 in his absence.

Howard, Frank Kaminsky, and Johnny O'Bryant could see an uptick in minutes with Zeller on the shelf. The struggling Hornets, who've lost seven of their last eight games, also have a roster spot available and are $1.8 million below the tax.
