Lowry brushes off Simmons beef: 'I guess he thinks he's somebody'
Kyle Lowry isn't losing sleep over Ben Simmons.
The pair of point guards were caught engaging in a feisty war of words toward the end of Monday's game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors, and it appeared they even motioned to one another to further continue their discussions in the tunnel after being served with ejections.
Though the two continued their altercation in the back, Simmons referred to it as "nothing," adding he didn't even see Lowry in the concourse.
"I just went to the locker room," Simmons said postgame, according to ESPN. "Nobody was back there. ... I don't know where he's at."
In his account of the story, Lowry didn't shed much detail about the event, either. He did, however, throw some shade at the rookie.
"I don't know," Lowry told the Toronto Sun's Ryan Wolstat about Simmons. "I guess he thinks he's somebody."
In Simmons' defense, the 76ers ball-handler has already made quite a name for himself in his first year in the NBA. Simmons ranks first among all rookies in rebounds (8.0 per game), assists (7.3), and steals (1.9), and his 16.8 points trail only Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell in scoring.
Lowry, however, clearly doesn't seem very impressed by his resume.
Not that it matters to Simmons, really.
"I'm not going to take no s--- from anybody," he said.
