LeBron James is spearheading a revival of the 1990s comedy movie franchise "House Party."

The Cleveland Cavaliers star and SpringHill Entertainment partner Maverick Carter will produce the project, while Stephen Glover - the brother of Donald Glover - and Jamal Olori will write the screenplay, according to Tatiana Siegel of the Hollywood Reporter.

The original "House Party," which starred hip-hop duo Kid 'n Play, was released in 1990 and spawned two sequels.

"This is definitely not a reboot. It's an entirely new look for a classic movie," James said. "Everyone I grew up with loved 'House Party.' To partner with this creative team to bring a new 'House Party' to a new generation is unbelievable."

James could also make a cameo in the movie.

"There's no plan for it now, but he's a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in," Carter said.
