Charlotte Hornets rookie shooting guard Malik Monk was cited by police for careless driving early Sunday morning following a car accident, according to documents obtained by TMZ Sports.

The police document states that Monk, 20, was driving near the University of Arkansas around 6 a.m. when his red 2002 Lexus L43 went off the road and crashed into a gate. University police cited Monk for careless driving and no proof of insurance.

"I was driving, looked down for a second, then I just hit a bump. Happened fast," he told police.

It's unclear if the Arkansas native, who was picked 11th overall in the 2017 draft, was hurt in the accident. The Hornets will return to action following the All-Star break on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets.
