Report: Warriors will meet local kids in D.C. instead of visiting Trump
The Golden State Warriors will forgo tradition and instead spread joy to children.
The defending NBA champions are heading to the nation's capital next week and will not make the customary visit to the White House after President Donald Trump tweeted last September that he withdrew their invitation.
Instead, the Warriors will go on a private tour with local kids on Feb. 27 ahead of their only regular-season game against Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes and Ramona Shelburne.

Head coach Steve Kerr let the players decide how they wanted to spend their off day in D.C. and they chose to bond with students in a personal, intimate event that reportedly won't be open to the media.
"It's their championship. They got disinvited to the White House, so it's up to them what they wanted to do. So they made their plans," Kerr told ESPN. "I want the players to have a good day and to do something positive and to enjoy what they're doing."

Fresh off capturing the 2017 championship over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Curry said at Media Day he hoped the Warriors would skip the White House visit because he doesn't agree with Trump's policies, resulting in the president calling him out on Twitter.
