Report: Robinson switches agents over handling of pre-draft process

Mitchell Robinson's breakout performance at summer league landed him a reported four-year, $6.4 million deal with the New York Knicks, but the prospect will have new representation.

Despite the contract signing, Robinson decided to fire Raymond Brothers due to his handling of the pre-draft process and has joined John Spencer of 540 Sports, sources told Marc Berman of The New York Post.

Robinson left Western Kentucky ahead of the college season, and his reps decided to pull the plug on his attendance at the draft combine the day before the event. A source said Robinson had spent two months training just for the combine, and considered withdrawing to be a mistake.

The player's camp believes he would've been selected in the late first round and secured more guaranteed money had the pre-draft process been run more smoothly, Berman reports, citing sources. Robinson was drafted 36th overall.

The Chalmette, La., native had a monstrous run at Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 13 points, 10.2 rebounds, four blocks, and shooting 67 percent in five games of his first competitive five-on-five action since the Jordan Brand Classic in April 2017.

Robinson, 20, immediately becomes one of Spencer's more notable clients, which include Tony Bradley of the Utah Jazz as well as fellow Knick Lance Thomas.
