Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic was assessed a $10,000 fine on Tuesday for kicking a basketball into the stands during the third quarter of Saturday's game versus the Indiana Pacers, the league announced.

The action triggered Doncic's second technical foul of the game, leading to the youngster's first NBA ejection.

He asserted postgame that he didn't intend to kick the ball into the stands and was surprised that the transgression was worthy of an ejection.

Doncic probably shouldn't expect a call from the Dallas Cowboys any time soon. While he got plenty of hang time on his kick, he did little to advance the Mavericks' position on the court, shanking the punt directly out of bounds.
