Longtime Dallas Mavericks fan Don Knobler has been banned from attending home games for the remainder of the regular season after inappropriately heckling Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley on Dec. 2, leading to the latter's ejection from the game, sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

Knobler's comments eventually led Beverley to a throw a ball in his direction during the fourth quarter of the Clippers' 114-110 loss to the Mavericks on Dec. 2.

Afterward, Beverley accused Knobler of saying "F--- your mother" twice during the game.

"I told the referee, I told the security," Beverley told reporters after the contest, according to MacMahon. "I mean, I've never gotten ejected out of a game since I've been in the NBA. You know, I play hard, I play within the lines, of course. I play within the rules, of course. I've never been ejected in my career in the NBA, but I'm a grown man. I have morals. Of course, God is first, family is second for me, and I stand firmly behind that."

Knobler, who's well-known for his unique wardrobe, denied swearing at the Clippers point guard. However, an investigation by the Mavericks organization confirmed Beverley's account of their confrontation, according to MacMahon's sources.

Beverley was fined $25,000 for the incident.
