Durant: Davis' trade request not like Trump shutting down government

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant doesn't think Anthony Davis requesting a trade away from the New Orleans Pelicans is too big a deal.

"It's definitely a topic of conversation. All NBA news is," Durant told reporters at Monday's practice, per 95.7 The Game. "I mean it's not that serious. So it's like, why not talk about it? So AD wanting to play basketball somewhere else, it's not like the president shutting down the government, it's just basketball."

Durant is, of course, referring to President Donald Trump's decision to force a United States government shutdown, which came to an end Friday after almost 35 days of inactivity.

It's no surprise to hear Durant being questioned about Davis' desires. They're both considered consensus top-five players in the league, and Durant's decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder during free agency in 2016 remains one of the most debated moves by a superstar in recent memory.

"We all, as players, we want guys to do exactly what they want to do in this league," Durant added. "They have a short amount of time."
