Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins has progressed to on-court work, the team announced shortly after tipoff for Game 2 of its second-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 28-year-old was examined by the team's medical staff Thursday and is set to be re-evaluated in one week.

"DeMarcus is coming along," head coach Steve Kerr said, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. "He's starting to do some work on the floor, so he's not exactly close to playing in a game, but he's making good strides with his rehab and getting out on the court and starting to do some conditioning things. We'll see where that goes."

Cousins hasn't played since suffering a torn left quad during Game 2 of the Warriors' first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers. The six-time All-Star was competing in the NBA playoffs for the first time in nine seasons. Cousins finished with nine points, nine boards, and four assists in his only full postseason game.

After missing the first half of the season recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, the big man averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 boards, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 blocks per contest across 30 regular-season appearances.

Cousins is an unrestricted free agent this summer.
