Suns waive Tyler Johnson

The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Tyler Johnson, the team announced Monday. The move makes the six-year veteran an unrestricted free agent and opens up a roster spot for Phoenix.

Johnson's production has fallen off substantially this season, as he's averaging 5.7 points per game and shooting just 29% from 3-point range. The Miami Heat matched a four-year, $50-million offer sheet Johnson signed with the Brooklyn Nets in summer 2016, making him one of the leading beneficiaries of that free-spending offseason.

After being sent to the Suns at last year's trade deadline, Johnson exercised his $19.2-million player option last summer.
