NBA power broker William Wesley is not expected to join the New York Knicks in any formal capacity amid reports his colleague Leon Rose will assume the team's vacant presidency, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Rose, a longtime agent for players such as Joel Embiid, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony, must formally end his relationship with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) before taking over the Knicks, according to Charania.

Wesley, well-known in league circles as "World Wide Wes," is a consultant for CAA and is believed to have close relationships with dozens of current and former players.

The woebegone Knicks endured more off-court drama Tuesday when the organization was forced to walk back televised statements made by new team consultant Steve Stoute regarding New York's coaching staff.
