The NBA and National Basketball Players Association are unlikely to approve a plan that will allow players to place the names of police brutality victims on their jerseys when the 2019-20 season resumes at Walt Disney World in Orlando, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Those within the union are reportedly concerned about "respecting the family's right to pick the player they would want honoring the name" and causing any "unnecessary pain" by leaving out other victims of police violence.

However, it doesn't necessarily mean players won't be able to bring attention to the Black Lives Matter movement when they take the court next month.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard and NBPA president Chris Paul confirmed this week that the league and union are in talks to allow players to replace the last name on their jersey with a social justice statement.

The NBA and WNBA are also reportedly planning to paint Black Lives Matter inside the sidelines of all courts that will host games when their respective seasons resume.
