Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo had a private meeting with franchise co-owner Marc Lasry on Saturday to discuss the team's future, sources told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Antetokounmpo is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career after next season. The Bucks will be permitted to offer him a five-year, super-max contract likely worth upward of $200 million this offseason - far more than any other team can offer him if he chooses to become a free agent in 2021.

However, if the 25-year-old refuses to commit to the Bucks long term, it could complicate matters for the franchise. Milwaukee can choose to retain him for the final season of his contract in order to make another run at a championship, though that also presents the risk of losing him for nothing after the 2020-21 campaign.

In order to mitigate that risk, the Bucks could theoretically trade the 2019 MVP this offseason. However, the team is reportedly adamant it won't ship the 25-year-old elsewhere and Antetokounmpo told reporters Tuesday he wouldn't request a trade after Milwaukee was eliminated from the postseason by the Miami Heat.

On Saturday, Antetokounmpo appeared to unfollow several of his teammates and the Bucks' own official social media account on Instagram and Twitter, Haynes notes.

Antetokounmpo has spent his entire seven-year career in Milwaukee since the team drafted him 15th overall in 2013. He averaged a career-best 29.5 points in 63 regular-season games this year to go along with 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists. If he doesn't re-sign, he's expected to be the most sought-after free agent in the 2021 class.
