Nets re-sign bubble standout Tyler Johnson

Tyler Johnson is returning to the Brooklyn Nets on a new deal, the team announced Friday. The exact terms of the contract are not yet known.

The combo guard has six seasons to his name, with the first four-and-a-half coming with the Miami Heat. He started last campaign with the Phoenix Suns before being waived in February, allowing the depleted Nets to add the 28-year-old to their roster ahead of the Orlando bubble in July.

Despite his late addition to the team, Johnson averaged 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists with 38.9% 3-point shooting during the Nets' eight seeding games.

In the team's first-round series defeat to the Toronto Raptors, Johnson tallied his best scoring night of the entire campaign, dropping 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting in Game 3.

The Nets' backcourt now boasts likely starters Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert, with Spencer Dinwiddie, Landry Shamet, Bruce Brown, and now Johnson among those available off the bench.
