Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant has been diagnosed with a partially torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced Sunday.

Updates will be provided on Bryant's recovery as they become available, the team said. However, the center is expected to miss the rest of the season, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bryant was injured two minutes into Washington's loss to the Miami Heat Saturday. The fourth-year big had jumped in an attempt to secure a rebound in a crowd of Heat players and collapsed upon landing.

He appeared in considerable discomfort as he grabbed his knee and required assistance to make it to the locker room. He did not return to the game.

The 23-year-old was averaging a career-high 15.9 points to go along with 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists heading into Saturday. Bryant was shooting 42.9% on 2.1 3-point attempts per game. He currently leads the league in 2-point field-goal percentage at 71.4%.

Bryant was a second-round pick by the Lakers in 2017 but played just 15 games for the franchise before Los Angeles waived him. The Wizards claimed Bryant off waivers in July 2018.
