Brooklyn Nets star James Harden left in the first quarter of Monday's 114-112 win over the New York Knicks due to right hamstring tightness, the team announced.

The 2018 MVP sat out the previous two games due to the same ailment.

Harden appeared to suffer the injury on a drive-and-kick sequence, after which he asked head coach Steve Nash to remove him from the game. The three-time NBA scoring champ finished his short-lived return with three assists in four minutes of play.

Kevin Durant, Tyler Johnson, and Landry Shamet are among the other key Nets players sidelined.

Harden, Durant, and Kyrie Irving have started only seven games together all season.

Third-year guard Bruce Brown will likely see increased minutes should Harden miss extended time.

Harden has been spectacular since being acquired from the Houston Rockets in January. The nine-time All-Star entered Monday's matchup averaging 26.1 points, 11.2 assists, and 8.9 boards over 33 appearances with the Nets.
