Atlanta Hawks forward De'Andre Hunter was diagnosed with a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the 2021 playoffs, the team announced Wednesday.

He'll undergo surgery Tuesday.

The 23-year-old averaged 10.8 points and four rebounds in five games during the Hawks' first-round series against the New York Knicks, but he didn't suit up in the Eastern Conference semifinals versus the Philadelphia 76ers due to swelling in his knee.

Hunter missed 24 games earlier this season with a right knee injury.

The Virginia product took a major step forward in his second NBA season for the Hawks, albeit in a limited sample size. Hunter averaged 15 points on 48.4% shooting, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 23 appearances.

Atlanta is currently tied 1-1 with Philadelphia in the series.
