The Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets' G League affiliate, announced the hiring of Jason Terry as head coach Thursday.

Terry, 43, last worked as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Arizona, which hired him in March 2020. The G League's Texas Legends previously appointed him as their assistant general manager following his retirement from playing in 2018.

A 19-year NBA veteran, Terry was affectionately known as "The Jet" and enjoyed stints with the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets, and Milwaukee Bucks.

Terry won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 2009 and the NBA title in 2011, both with the Mavericks. He ranks seventh in league history for career 3-point field goals made with 2,282.

The former combo guard will take charge of Grand Rapids in its first season as the Nuggets' affiliate. The organization was associated with the Detroit Pistons from 2014-21 as the Grand Rapids Drive.
