Grunwald retiring as president, CEO of Canada Basketball

Glenn Grunwald will retire from his roles as president and CEO of Canada Basketball, the board of directors announced Wednesday.

Michael Bartlett, former chief operating officer for Canada Basketball, succeeds Grunwald in both positions, effective Oct. 1, 2021.

"The last three years with Canada Basketball have featured some of the most rewarding and impactful moments of my career, thanks in large part to all the passionate people who are deeply invested and committed to seeing the game continue to grow," Grunwald said.

Grunwald previously served as general manager of the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks before joining Canada Basketball in October 2018. The Illinois native moved to Canada to help launch the expansion Raptors in 2014 and later obtained citizenship.

Grunwald will retain a role in the organization as the executive advisor for basketball operations with an eye on establishing a national training center for Canadian men's and women's basketball. He also serves as a consultant to the Memphis Grizzlies.
