The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the long-standing Donovan Mitchell sweepstakes Thursday.

The Cavs acquired the Utah Jazz star in a blockbuster trade for a massive haul that included Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Ochai Agbaji, three first-round picks, and two pick swaps.

Twitter had lots to say about the trade, given how highly regarded the three-time All-Star is among NBA players, the unexpected nature of the deal, and the fact the New York Knicks - the favorite to acquire Mitchell - came away empty-handed.

Mitchell posted a childhood photo on Twitter of him wearing a Cavaliers jersey, paired with the offseason's most viral meme of ESPN's Brian Windhorst. Some of Mitchell's future and former teammates, along with a Cleveland legend, also chimed in on social media.

Meanwhile, noted Knicks fan Stephen A. Smith, NBA legend Magic Johnson, and former Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas each had their own take with different levels of demeanor.

Tyler Herro looked to keep pundits in check after he was expected to be the Miami Heat's main trade chip had the team made a deal for Mitchell.
