Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is taking precautions to manage Klay Thompson this season.

"(Thompson) may not play in a back-to-back all year," Kerr said, according to ESPN's Kendra Andrews. "He didn't last year because of two straight season-ending injuries."

The Warriors are reportedly resting Thompson, Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green on the second night of a back-to-back Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. Golden State has yet to win on the road this season and is amid a four-game losing streak.

Thompson's statistics have declined since his return in January from ACL and Achilles tendon injuries. He's averaging 15.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists this campaign, his lowest scoring average since his rookie year. The sharpshooter has struggled from beyond the arc, shooting a career-low 33% from three.

The 32-year-old missed the entire 2019-20 season after tearing his ACL in the 2019 Finals. He injured his Achilles tendon during a pickup game in November 2020 and was sidelined for the 2020-21 campaign.
